Dashboard at Elopak ensures business critical information
A knowledge database with a Web interface and a newly developed dashboard at Elopak has ensured the use of business critical information.

Elopak has a strategic goal of being the best as regards Quality in their industry. Also being able to provide a satisfactory level of service throughout the supply chain is very important to Elopak.

“This database, together with the dashboard, allows us to effectively handle and monitor our quality issues across the entire company,” says Georgiana Radulescu, Quality Knowledge Engineer at Elopak and project manager for the dashboard project.

Elopak is a world leading company in beverage carton filling and packaging systems. They have a vested interest in gaining valuable insight into requests, enquiries and issues regarding service, errors and deficiencies, both internal and related to use of the products in customer operations. It is also important to have an efficient workflow in handling any customer requests. In cooperation with Symfoni, a database system with a Web interface was designed and developed to meet Elopak’s specific needs.

”Company wide information on quality issues is gathered in one place through this database. Visualizing this information increases our ability to be proactive and to mitigate future quality challenges,” continues Ms. Radulescu.

The database provided Elopak with an essential workflow between business units for all requests. Furthermore, the possibility for statistic analyses and measurement has made it possible for Elopak to better prioritize efforts to mitigate risks of repeating quality issues. The database also means that the entire organization’s case data regarding specific quality incidents are gathered in a single system.

”We are continuously developing our database and dashboard to suit current business needs. This is an ongoing and rather complex process, thus on-time delivery and the smooth cooperation we have had with Symfoni has been a great asset,” says Ms. Radulescu.

The database shares valuable information regarding Elopak’s business partners and internal processes and is part of the company’s knowledge sharing efforts. The dashboard developed in cooperation with Symfoni makes it easy for the organization’s diverse functions to quickly access the relevant information in the database. This helps to synchronously exploit the information across the company.

As Georgiana points out, ”Our dashboard eases information flow and knowledge sharing in the entire organization, while at the same time contributing to an even more effective management of issues and a higher degree of quality assurance in Elopak.”
